(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 31, 2009 ) CEDAR CITY, Utah–Phil Keoghan, host of CBS’s The Amazing Race, began a race of his own on Saturday when he left Los Angeles on his bike, bound for New York. He expects to cover 3,500 miles over 40 days to raise awareness about the benefits of cycling for health, wellness and the environment, as well as raising funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Phil will be traveling with a camera crew to document his progress for CBS.
He will roll into Cedar City on Wednesday and depart, along with any cyclists interested in joining him, from the Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau office on Thursday morning, after a warm Cedar City welcome and healthy snacks. His route will head south on Main Street, then east and over Cedar Mountain on the way to Kanab. Riders are encouraged to pre-register to ride along with Mr. Keoghan.
