YMCA of the Rockies Excited to Welcome National Geographic for Rocky Mountain National Park BioBlitz August 24-25, 2012

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 24, 2012 ) ESTES PARK, Colo.- YMCA of the Rockies is proud to welcome to their Estes Park Center location, the National Geographic Society as they co-host with the National Park Service, the Rocky Mountain National Park BioBlitz, August 24-25. The National Geographic Society together with the National Park Service invite scientists, naturalists, community leaders, students, and the public to discover and inventory the biodiversity of this scenic national park during the combination festival, scientific endeavor, and outdoor classroom.

BioBlitz is open to explorers of all ages. The Biodiversity Festival, which will be the base camp for activities, will be free to the public and located at the Estes Park Fairgrounds. Festival highlights to include family activities, live music, exhibitors, and opportunities to talk with and help scientists. All other activities will take place in Rocky Mountain National Park. Advanced online registration is required for all park activities. A shuttle will be available to transport participants from the festival to the park. Surrounded on three sides by Rocky Mountain National Park, guests at the 860-acre Estes Park Center will be just steps away from the action. The Estes Park Center opened 3 LEED-certified lodges in 2010, showing their commitment to sustainable and earth-friendly facilities.
