(I-TravelNewswire.Com, October 02, 2018 ) Waterborne adhesives are manufactured from natural polymers and soluble synthetic polymers. Natural polymers include starch, dextrins, casein, proteins, bones, and hides, and soluble synthetic polymers include cellulose ethers, methyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and carboxy methylcellulose. Prior to the application, waterborne adhesives that are supplied as formulated dry powders or as solution are mixed with water. The strength is obtained when water is evaporated or absorbed by substrate. As the polymers used in the waterborne adhesives are soluble, they offer limited moisture resistance.

Waterborne adhesives are used in automotive & transportation, packaging, building & construction, assembly, wood & furniture, footwear, pressure sensitive tapes, and others. Some of the advantages of waterborne adhesives include high initial adhesion, high solid content, low/ no solvent content and therefore, eco-friendly nature.
Increasing demand for waterborne adhesives in packaging industry and automotive industry are factors that is expected to drive growth of waterborne disease market. The improved chemical and heat resistance makes it suitable to be used in label applications, packaging tapes, office tapes, flexible laminations, and food packaging. The technological advancements in production processes and availability of bio-based waterborne adhesive provide opportunities for the players in the market.
However, complex formulation of waterborne adhesives is a factor that is expected to hamper growth of waterborne adhesives market.
