Ford Sales See 13 Percent Rise Compared to August of 2011 Reports MagicCarpetAutoTransport.org

(I-TravelNewswire.Com, September 29, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA – Ford Motor Co. sold more cars, utility vehicle, and trucks than it did last year. The company recording a 13% increase in August over the same month in 2011.

The Detroit-based carmaker has brought on a third crew at its plant in Louisville to meet demand for the new Escape. The small utility saw a record 37% increase in August sales to 28,188.

The increases showed that the automaker was building vehicles that meet Americans’ needs, said Kevin Czubay, vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and services at Ford.

“As fuel price rose again in August, we saw growing numbers of people gravitate toward our fuel-efficient vehicles – cars, utilities and trucks,” Czubay stated. “Customers increasingly value savings at the pump.”

August saw a 7% rise in passenger car sales. There were 21,690 Fusions sold, a 21% gain. Sales of the Focus rose 35% to 19,073, and Mustang sales increased 12% to 6,387.

The F-series of trucks recorded a 6% sales rise in August to 58,201.

Ford, which employs 168,000 workers and has 65 plants across the globe, aims to build 725,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter – that would be a 7% increase from last year. The carmaker also said it was slightly behind in its third quarter expectation of 690,000 vehicles.
