Study Shows Gustman Development Will Thrive

(I-TravelNewswire.Com, June 29, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- According to findings from a new study, a hotel on former Gustman dealership could operate with full opportunity for success.

The study notes that the dealership could, in fact, be larger and hold more amenities than originally planned. This report comes from the Core Distinction Group in the Minneapolis area.

Neenah-based BriMark Builders has proposed building a Cobblestone Inn & Suite on the site that borders the Veteran's bridge.

The study does have recommendations, including the addition of six rooms, including extended stay suites, a pool, spa, and business meeting room.

“The feasibility study says this will work in downtown Kaukauna,” said Bob Jakel, Kaukauna’s planning and community development director, who presented an abbreviated version of the findings to Kaukauna’s Common Council on Tuesday night. “The neat thing is that it’s bigger than we anticipated with more amenities. It would be a nice, high-class hotel. We’re encouraged by it.”

Jakel stated that development personnel now must line up investors, as well as design the building for redevelopment, so that the redevelopment authority will approve the concept. That will mean that the hotel can open sometime within the 2014 fiscal year, with no complications slowing down the process.

“The hotel start date would not be determined until after the local investment group reached the benchmark of 40 percent of the total project cost,” said Renee Torzala, spokeswoman for Stadtmueller & Assoc., a firm planning the overall Grand KaKalin development that would include the hotel.

Torzala noted that the hotel revisions cost would be released by BriMark Builders at an undisclosed time, but was not currently available.

The Gustman site is also being looked at as a senior housing project site. The previous proposal for lower-priced senior apartments was removed from consideration after the housing credit needs were not capable of being reached.

“In the study, they suggested working in some event space for banquets and weddings in the Eagle Mill,” said Torzala. “We are exploring that right now.”
