(I-TravelNewswire.Com, March 27, 2014 ) JUNEAU, Alaska -- Alaska’s stunning capital city is gearing up for the 28th annual Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival, set to take place May 2- 17, 2014. Nationally-recognized for its line-up of world-class artists, this unique 16-day festival offers a spectacular mix of blues, jazz, and classical performances, workshops, and family entertainment in an array of venues including aboard boats for the ever-popular "classical and blues cruises."
Special events include highlights like free concerts, “Brown Bag Concerts” that include lunchtime concerts in the downtown area, evening concerts, a “Music and a Movie” event that includes a concert and a movie, a “Chocolate, Cheese, and Tchaikovsky” event, guitar, piano, and jazz workshops, a “Brew & Beethoven” event, classical cruises, and much more. Event locations take place throughout Juneau, giving visitors a chance to enjoy the scenery while savoring the sounds of jazz, blues, and classical music. This years’ artists include Manhattan Transfer, David Bromberg, Akropolis Reed Quintet, Andrey Tchekmazov, and many more.
The festival is supported through tax-deductible contributions that help bring the finest classical, jazz, and blues artists to Juneau for this special event and during other times of the year. Contributors who donate money, Alaska Airline miles, and Companion Fares help fund this event and help provide free lunchtime concerts, school visits by festival musicians, complimentary tickets through local non-profits for those in need, intensive workshops, master classics, and clinics with Festival artists, affordable concert tickets, especially for students, through the Tom & Jane Stewart Education Fund, and more.
