Rudesheim am Mein is a small village and wine town situated near the Rhein river. There are many hills to hike around the town and through the surrounding vineyards.

Rudesheim is part of a UNESCO world heritage site. This area is officially referred to as: Rüdesheim am Rhein. This distinguishes from another German town with the same name.

The entire Frankfurt wine area draws many from around the world. Much of this area was once occupied and utilized by Romans for the same purpose: To grow wine.

Rheingauer Weinmuseum Brömserburg is a nearby museum which has captured the history of grape growing and wine making in the area spanning 1,000 years. The hilly regions of this area are home to many, many vineyards.

Nearby is a monument known as the Niederwalddenkmal, which was finished in 1873 and remains standing today. The monument was commissioned to celebrate the formation of the German empire after the Franco-Prussian war.

Of course, many old churches also dot the area as well as the occasional castle ruin. This area is widely visited for all of these reasons and more.
