ECHO River Trips Celebrates 40th Anniversary By Winning Outside MagazineÂ’s 2011 Trips of the Year Award

Hood River, Ore. Â– ECHO River Trips is getting its 40th Anniversary season started off right by winning Outside MagazineÂ’s coveted 2011 Trips of the Year award. Out of hundreds of applicants covering everything from treks and rides to paddles and climbs, Outside picked ECHOÂ’s new 15-day Siberian rafting expedition on RussiaÂ’s Kaa-Khem River as one of their 10 best trips of 2011.

OutsideÂ’s 2011 Trips of the Year award recognizes the top 10 new trips of 2011 as decided by the editors of Outside Magazine, widely regarded as the premier publication covering the outdoor adventure lifestyle. OutsideÂ’s judging panel considered many applicants before narrowing it down to their top 10 trips, which included ECHOÂ’s Siberian Rafting Expedition alongside paddling, climbing, heli-skiing, biking, and multisport adventures in places like Alaska, Patagonia, Africa, Mongolia, Bhutan, the French Alps, and Polynesia.

ECHOÂ’s Kaa-Khem River Expedition is a true wilderness adventure in southern Siberia, just miles from the Mongolian border, and about as far from an ocean as you can get. The initial Mi-8 helicopter ride to the Kaa-Khem sets the tone for the rest of the trip, which is led by renowned Russian Adventurer Vladimir Gavrilov. Travelers will enjoy vodka-clear waters, extraordinary fishing, and 166 miles of world class whitewater, including a 10 mile stretch of whitewater known as the MelÂ’zeyskiy Cascade. The Kaa-Khem River Expedition will run July 24-August 7, 2011.
