(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 07, 2011 ) SHERIDAN,Wyo.- Sheridan, Wyoming has a long history of combining the wild outdoors with cowboy culture. Today travelers to the region can capture a bit of both. The Big Horns and Sheridan provide plenty of opportunities to capture stunning shots. In mid-summer the Big Horns are covered in fields of wildflowers, fall brings every shade of red and gold, and winter snows settle in as soft and stunning scenes. In town, the preserved architecture and buildings of the Historic Main Street District tell tales of cowboys passed. Year round wildlife, from trophy trout to to elegant elk, makes stunning subjects.
New this year, local professional photographer Diana Volk, has created a Spirit of the West Photography Workshop. From June 16-19, photography enthusiasts will tackle sessions on cowgirls and boys, Native Americans, horses, portraits, and wagons with the beautiful Big Horns as the background. Participants will enjoy a true Western experience; dining on Dutch oven cooked meals and camping out in authentic teepees and wall tents. In addition to Volk, South Dakota based photographer Jodie Baxendale and third generation rancher Stacey Ellenwood will be available to offer sage advice.
