 (EMAILWIRE.COM, October 12, 2011 ) New York, NY -- DreamWorks Animation and Paramount PicturesÂ’ computer-animated movie, Kung Fu Panda 2, is the sequel of the 2008 film Kung Fu Panda. Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D became a worldwide success and received positive reviews, making the film the 49th highest-grossing movie of all time. It is also recognized as the top-grossing movie that is directed by a woman.
After the first Kung Fu Panda movie was released in 2008, DreamWorks studio announced a possible follow-up movie, which was given the name “Pandamoneum” as the subtitle. In 2010, the name was changed into “Kaboom of Doom” until finally it was given the title, Kung Fu Panda 2. The cast members of the first movie reprised their voice roles. The movie’s new villain, Shen, is voiced by actor Gary Oldman. This time, Po (Jack Black) finds help in a group of kung fu masters to battle the evil Shen who has a deadly weapon.
The official Kung Fu Panda 2 release date is on December 13, 2011 for DVD and Blu-ray. The discs include the short film, “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters” plus a sneak peek of “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness,” which is a new television series airing on Nickelodeon.
